Five Louisiana Tech students have been nominated for the Goldwater Scholarship, a national award from the government given to the top undergraduate researchers in STEM fields. The five nominees are Caitlyn Boudreaux, Allie Buchanan, Aurora McCain, Joshua Robinson, and Bryleigh Wickham. The university officially named the nominees on January 30; National Scholars will be announced on March 27, 2026.
Caitlyn Boudreaux is a junior studying Chemistry, Allie Buchanan is a sophomore studying Psychology, Aurora McCain is a junior studying Forestry, Joshua Robinson is a sophomore studying Mathematics, and Bryleigh Wickham is a junior transfer student studying Biomedical Engineering.
The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation was established by Congress in 1986 to serve as a memorial to the work of Barry Goldwater, who served as a soldier and statesman for 30 years in the Senate; since then, the foundation has awarded more than 11,000 scholarships to students studying the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering.
The Goldwater Scholarship is one of the nation's most respected honors for undergraduates pursuing careers in the STEM field. It recognizes students who exhibit curiosity, talent, and drive to become the next generation of scientific leaders.
