Million Meals for MLK pack party brings hunger relief effort to Monroe

BATON ROUGE, La. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana (Louisiana Blue), Healthy Blue Louisiana and Entergy Louisiana are partnering to support the second Million Meals for MLK campaign, an initiative led by Volunteer Louisiana and Feeding Louisiana to address food insecurity across the state.

As part of the campaign, employees and their families from the three organizations will volunteer in Monroe during January to help restock food bank supplies following the holiday season. Volunteers will pack “oh seaux good” red beans and rice meal kits made with Louisiana-grown rice donated by Cajun Country Rice. The meals will support families in need across northeast Louisiana.

The Million Meals for MLK campaign launched in 2025 and united communities statewide to provide more than two million meals through Feeding Louisiana’s five regional food banks. Organizers and volunteers aim to meet or exceed that impact in 2026 by continuing to engage corporate partners and community members in service during Martin Luther King Jr. Day month.
