This December, Monroe, Louisiana, is brimming with festive celebrations, spreading holiday cheer to residents and visitors alike.

The holidays begin on December 1 at 6 PM with the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at the Monroe Civic Center. Guests can enjoy free hot cocoa, cookies, and cheerful music before watching a classic holiday movie in the B.D. Robinson Conference Hall.

Art enthusiasts can join the Downtown Gallery Crawl on December 4 from 5 PM to 9 PM, exploring local galleries and supporting Monroe-West Monroe's thriving art scene.

Holiday shopping takes the spotlight on December 5 with the Holidays on Main Marketplace at the Civic Center Courtyard from 5 PM to 9 PM. Shoppers will find handcrafted gifts and one-of-a-kind treasures perfect for holiday giving. The same evening, ice skating returns to the Civic Center with 45-minute sessions for $20 (including skate rental) or $15 for those bringing their own skates.

On December 6, the Kiwanis Christmas Parade dazzles Downtown Monroe at 3:30 PM, featuring festive floats and appearances by local officials. Later, the Christmas Fireworks on the River will illuminate the night at the Downtown RiverMarket at 6 PM.

Throughout December, the Downtown RiverMarket transforms into a holiday wonderland aglow with sparkling lights, ideal for a leisurely winter stroll.
