The United States Team Penning Association (USTPA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the sports of Team Penning and Ranch Sorting. Established in 1993 the organization represents riders of all ages across the world. The USTPA celebrates the culture and skills of the western lifestyle.
Penning and Ranch Sorting are timed events that involve speed, precision and strategic planning in order to quickly and accurately cut and pen the cattle on horseback by rider teams.
The World Finals are taking place in West Monroe from October 27 to November 1 at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center, with an annual membership meeting being held on October 26 at 5:00 p.m.
"We are thrilled to welcome back the USTPA World Finals to Ike Hamilton in West Monroe, Louisiana. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our Southern hospitality and unique culture,” said Discover Monroe-West Monroe’s Executive Vice President Scott Bruscato.
The event will consist of a full schedule of Team Penning and Ranch Sorting classes.
Opening day on Monday, Oct. 27 will begin at 9 a.m., with the remainder of the days starting at 8 a.m.
Cash and prizes will total up to $150,000.
Finals are expected to produce an estimated economic impact of $454,469.09 for Ouachita Parish.
