WATCH: D.J. Grissom at the 2025 ORBS Blues Challenge

North Louisiana's Delta Blues scene came alive as D.J. Grissom took the stage at the 2025 Ouachita River Blues Society (ORBS) Blues Challenge. By day, Grissom is a dedicated mailman, but by night, he transforms into a soulful Delta Blues musician, captivating audiences with his raw talent and heartfelt performances.

Grissom, a member of the band Gin Mobsters, draws inspiration from legendary artists such as Jeff Tweedy, Nirvana, and Drive-By Truckers. His setlist for the evening included stirring renditions of "Low Down Blues," "Blacktop Blues," "Dead Moon," "Fixin' to Die Blues," and the haunting classic "In the Pines."

Grissom performed in the Solo/Duo category for a chance to represent the Ouachita River Blues Society at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis.

The Ouachita River Blues Society, a cornerstone of the North Louisiana music community, continues its mission to celebrate the roots and traditions of blues music. From honoring legends like Robert Johnson and Leadbelly to showcasing modern talent like Grissom, ORBS keeps the spirit of blues alive through concerts, jams, and community events.
