MONROE, LA – The City of Monroe will host a dedication ceremony for the new Charlotte Bolton Tennis Center at the Forsythe tennis courts on October 8, 2025, at 3 p.m.
The complex is named in honor of Charlotte Bolton, a prominent figure in Louisiana tennis history. Bolton was individually ranked as one of the top players in Louisiana and the USTA Southern Section for many years.
Bolton was inducted into the Louisiana Tennis Hall of Fame in 1994. She was a dedicated coach, establishing the first high school tennis team in Northeast Louisiana at Neville High School, where she coached for 25 years. During her time as coach, she taught and inspired hundreds of players.
Her commitment to Monroe extended beyond coaching, as she directed free tennis clinics for the City at multiple locations, including Forsythe Park. She taught over 500 kids the game she loved.
Charlotte's legacy continues through her family and community initiatives. Her daughter, Judge Ann Bolton McIntyre, has facilitated free tennis clinics in Winnsboro since 1997, using the same format her mother used in Monroe. In 2004, the family of her son, Dr. Padg Bolton, was named the Louisiana Tennis Association's Mickey McNulty Tennis Family of the Year. The Bolton Cup, a high school tennis tournament developed in her honor, remains Louisiana's longest-running high school tennis tournament outside of the state championship. Additionally, the Charlotte Bolton Scholarship is presented annually to a member of the Neville Tennis Team who demonstrates good citizenship, academic excellence, and teamwork.
The public is invited to attend the dedication of the Charlotte Bolton Complex on October 8, 2025 at 3 PM
