WEST MONROE, LA - The City of West Monroe is inviting the public to a ribbon cutting ceremony for its newly constructed public Fishing Pier this Thursday, August 28th at 10 a.m. The pier is located on the West Monroe Riverfront at 108 N. Riverfront Street.
The new Fishing Pier project was made possible through funding from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Sport Fish Restoration Program, as well as private donations raised during the "Picture This Capital Campaign."
The pier features an extended walkway out over the Ouachita River, offering scenic views and easy access for fishing enthusiasts. Benches and lighting have also been installed to enhance the visitor experience.
Representatives from the La. Department of Wildlife and Fisheries are expected to be in attendance.
The fishing pier is part of the overall development of a downtown riverfront marina project. Campbell’s Landing, a marina with complimentary boat slips, opened to the public in spring 2023.
