Ouachita Live returns to downtown West Monroe featuring Blues award winner Selwyn Birchwood with special guest D.K. Harrell

Downtown West Monroe will host its Ouachita Live concert series on May 30, featuring award-winning blues artist Selwyn Birchwood and his band, alongside special guest and Ruston native D.K. Harrell. This free outdoor event runs from 7-9 p.m. at Alley Park (corner of Trenton and Natchitoches Streets), with food truck options, local restaurant beverages for sale, and seating encouraged for attendees. Cash donations will support the artists.

Known for his “Electric Swamp Funkin’ Blues,” Birchwood has earned accolades like the Blues Music Award and International Blues Challenge, while Guitar World hails him as “the real deal.” D.K. Harrell, recipient of the B.B. King of the Blues Award and founder of the Ouachita River Blues Society (ORBS), will bring his own celebrated sound. ORBS members can meet the artists at a pre-show Meet & Greet at Flying Heart Brewing and Pub at 6 p.m.

Main Street Director Adrienne LaFrance-Wells invites the community to this rare opportunity, emphasizing the collaboration of two world-class talents. Presented by the Downtown West Monroe Revitalization Group, this fast-growing concert series has become a top regional draw. Event sponsors include brands such as Louisiana Lottery, Choice Brands, and KEDM 90.3 FM.
