Severe weather threats for Monday & Tuesday

National Weather Service Shreveport /NOAA

A dangerous weather system threatens parts of the region today, with risks of very large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes. Areas most at risk include the far northwest of northeast Texas, southeast Oklahoma, and southwest Arkansas. Thunderstorms are expected to develop west of the region early in the afternoon and move in by late afternoon and evening.

This severe weather threat extends into Tuesday, shifting to northern Louisiana and southern Arkansas. Residents should stay alert as conditions could change rapidly.

There is a high risk of large hail in Enhanced and Moderate Risk zones, which could damage vehicles, crops, and property. Pop-up tornadoes remain a higher threat, and residents should have safety plans ready.
