WEST MONROE – The City of West Monroe has received approval for federal funding for an infrastructure project that will create safer road conditions and greater connectivity in the community.

The City of West Monroe will receive a total of $3.6 million which will be funded through federal appropriations.

Louisiana District 5 U.S. Representative Julia Letlow sponsored the City of West Monroe’s request for a roundabout to be constructed at the Downing Pines and Mane Street intersection.

The roundabout will increase vehicular traffic flow, improve safety and serve a growing area of the West Monroe community that includes the brand-new West Monroe Sports & Events facility, Ike Hamilton Expo Center and several hotels, restaurants and businesses.

“I would like to thank Congresswoman Julia Letlow for her instrumental role in securing this funding,” said West Monroe Mayor Staci Mitchell. “This project will provide a significant infrastructure upgrade to a key intersection within the city limits.”
