Black History Month kicks off with Monti Sharp art exhibit

February is Black History Month and the Northeast Louisiana African-American Heritage Museum is kicking off the month with an exhibition of art by Monroe born artist Monti Sharp. The Emmy winning Sharp gained fame as an actor on television and film but he was keeping his art to himself until family convinced him that it should be exhibited. His art will be shown at the Northeast Louisiana African-American Heritage Museum February 2-16.

Lundon Sharp , curator of Sharp Art Studio and Ross Slacks, president Northeast Louisiana African-American Heritage Museum join Lagniappe host Cory Crowe to talk about the exhibit, artist reception, and other Black History Month events.

Originally from Monroe, Cory has worked in a variety of media. He has worked in television news and spent seven years as a TV sports play-by-play announcer. He was also creative director for a television advertising department and worked extensively as a photojournalist. Cory has lived in both Dallas and New Orleans.
