Starting October 4th and continuing every Wednesday this month, the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council is holding performances for their noontime outdoor Brown Bag concert series. Located at Palace Park, 220 DeSiard Street, the event will will be outdoors so picnic blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged. Outside food and drinks will be permitted. Atendees can also purchase a $6 box lunch and sweet tea from Newk's, who will be on site, Mulhearn's will also once again provide free cookies for those at the event. Admission is free thanks to our sponsors: Mulhearn’s, Newk’s, The Palace, Paramount Healthcare Consultants of West Monroe, and the City of Monroe.
This four week event will hold one show each week, with performances by: Josh Love on October 4. He is an award-winning blues musician who covers big names in R&B, rock, and more. On October 18, Clara Rae, a Monroe native who is gaining local popularity with her indie, folk\country shows. Homegrown Band, a group hailing from Morehouse Parish on October 11. The group consists of five members, all of which are vocalists and also instrumentalists. Robin Baggarly (fiddle, percussion), John Creech (guitar,mandolin), Renee Decker (percussion, trumpet), Mike Estep (bass guitar), and Clarence Lindsay (piano, harmonica). As well as, back by popular demand, Denene Stringfellow, who provides a diverse performance that ranges from gospel to show tunes. This final performance will be October 25.
