A fatal crash occurred on LA Hwy 147 near Bear Creek Road in Jackson Parish on August 2, 2023, at around 5:00 a.m. Sidney Daniels, 43 years old, died in the crash.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Daniels was driving south on LA Hwy 147 when his 1990 Ford Taurus crossed over the centerline and collided with a 2005 Kenworth commercial motor vehicle traveling north. Daniels, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the Kenworth was uninjured and properly restrained.
The crash remains under investigation, and routine toxicology samples were collected from the driver of the Kenworth. Louisiana law requires everyone in a vehicle to wear a seat belt, which can significantly reduce the risk of injury or death in a crash.
Troop F has investigated 20 fatality crashes resulting in 22 deaths in 2023.
