Local schools sue LHSAA

Several high schools in Louisiana have filed a lawsuit against the Louisiana High School Athletic Association over the current select-nonselect playoff system. The schools from Rapides Parish and the Monroe area are unhappy with the LHSAA's decision to move non-select schools to the select side. They believe that Eddie Bonine, the Executive Director of LHSAA, did not have the authority to make this decision.

The LHSAA, on the other hand, claims that the executive committee made this decision and that schools had the opportunity to provide input. The dispute has caused a lot of tension among the schools and the LHSAA, with both sides refusing to back down.

The select-nonselect playoff system is a way of dividing high schools into two categories based on their enrollment size. Select schools are those that can recruit athletes from outside their district, while non-select schools cannot. The system was implemented to create a more level playing field for high school sports teams.
