'Ouachita Live' concert series returns with bluesman Kent Burnside

The Ouachita Live concert series returns Friday, July 28 at 7 p.m. with bluesman Kent Burnside. The event is free and the evening will also feature food trucks and beverages. Many local restaurants will also be open.

Kent Burnside hails from Holly Springs, Mississippi as the oldest Grandson and pupil of blues legend, R.L. Burnside. His playing dots the globe and his style is unlike any other: dark, hypnotic, inviting... and very dance-able.

Adrienne LaFrance - Wells, Downtown West Monroe Director, says West Monroe is turning 140 years old. To celebrate the city will hold a birthday celebration concert featuring Wayne Toups and Zydecajun. Tickets for Toups go on sale September 30.

Originally from Monroe, Cory has worked in a variety of media. He has worked in television news and spent seven years as a TV sports play-by-play announcer. He was also creative director for a television advertising department and worked extensively as a photojournalist. Cory has lived in both Dallas and New Orleans.
