NOCCA / SYAA workshop helps develop young artists

The Strauss Youth Academy for the Arts has teamed up with the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (a High School Conservatory School) to produce an intensive weeklong workshop dedicated to Musical Theatre. This workshop, a collaboration of SYAA and The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, is for students ages 12-18, July 17-21 from 1-4 p.m.

Actors will learn to improve their improv with Theatre Games with Lauren Malara . Vocalist will work with Ashley Milanese, a NOCCA alum and vocalist/voice teacher. Rachel Waterman, a former competitive dancer and current dance instructor trained in musical theatre, jazz, lyrical, modern, hip-hop, ballet, and tap will work with dancers.

Originally from Monroe, Cory has worked in a variety of media. He has worked in television news and spent seven years as a TV sports play-by-play announcer. He was also creative director for a television advertising department and worked extensively as a photojournalist. Cory has lived in both Dallas and New Orleans.
