LEH offers instruction for non-profits to prepare for disasters

The Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, in partnership with the Louisiana Association of Museums and cultural heritage specialist, Rebecca Elder ,will launch of Culture Ready LA. This series of free, day-long workshops is specifically designed for nonprofit cultural organizations across the state, aimed at educating attendees on how to effectively plan for emergencies.

Culture Ready LA workshops will be held throughout the summer, with the first session scheduled for Monday, June 26, at Louisiana Tech University. The workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and registration is available online.

The workshops are open to staff from nonprofit cultural organizations based in Louisiana, with the aim of providing attendees with the skills and knowledge to assemble an emergency planning team, assess the risks to their collection, write and implement a plan, re-enter their facilities safely after a disaster and more.

In addition to the June 26 session, Culture Ready LA workshops will also take place on Tuesday, June 27, in Lafayette; Wednesday, June 28, in New Orleans; and Thursday, June 29, in Houma.
