Kiroli Park to be closed this summer for major infrastructure project

WEST MONROE – The City of West Monroe has announced Kiroli Park will be closed to the public beginning in mid-June for a major infrastructure project to take place.

Kiroli Park will be closed to all traffic beginning on Monday, June 19 through approximately the end of September. The park will be closed while the Kiroli Road vehicular bridge is completely replaced.
The bridge had previously been determined by the La. Department of Transportation and Development to be in poor shape and in need of complete replacement.

The summer months were determined by contractors and park officials to be the best time for the project to take place. Summer months are dryer and more conducive for construction projects to be completed in a timely manner. Park records also show attendance is slower in the summer compared to the spring and fall seasons.

Funding to replace the bridge was provided by the State of Louisiana.

Kiroli Park will remain open to the public until Sunday, June 18. The park will be open seven days a week from June 1-18 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Those who have purchased annual memberships to Kiroli Park will have their memberships extended based on the number of days the park is closed.

While Kiroli Park is closed, the Parks and Recreation Department encourages the public to utilize other public parks in the city limits including:
• Highland Park Wetland Trails
• Lazarre Park
• Restoration Park
• Brady Fields
• Riverbend Community Health Park
