West Monroe seeking community input on transportation corridors

West Monroe, LA, January 6, 2023 – The City of West Monroe is seeking public input to inform the public of possible future improvements to key transportation corridors throughout the city. The city has hired Atlas Community Studios to facilitate public engagement activities, such as town hall meetings and an online survey, to better understand the needs and desires of local residents before applying for a RAISE Grant.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed by the U.S. Congress in 2022 includes a significant amount of funding for the U.S. Department of Transportation's RAISE Grant program. The RAISE Grant program helps communities build transportation projects that have significant local or regional impact and improve safety and equity.

The City of West Monroe intends to submit an application for this program to address several critical transportation corridors that are in need of repair or require significant improvements to establish multimodal connectivity for vehicular and pedestrian users.

The proposed project will focus on six critical corridors:

● Highland Park

● Trenton Street Corridor

● Downtown

● Stella/Mill Gateway

● Natchitoches Street

● Coleman Corridor

To ensure these improvements are informed by residents and complementary of ongoing transportation projects, the City of West Monroe and Atlas will host three public meetings, and an online public survey is available for local residents to give feedback and ideas. The online survey is available through the City of West Monroe’s Facebook page and website at www.cityofwestmonroe.com The survey will close on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
