Election 2015: Candidate Profiles

In the October 24 election, voters will decide several local races.  KEDM talks with candidates in six of those contests.

In Ouachita Parish, two races we highlight are Clerk of Court and Police Jury - District B.  Louise Bond is the incumbent clerk.  She faces a challenge by Assistant District Attorney Madeleine Slaughter.  Juror Mack Calhoun seeks re-election in District B against businessman Jack Clampit.

A new representative will serve District 5 on the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.  Business Consultant Johnny Fatheree is running against retired educator/school superintendent Gary Jones.

Local district races include State House Distrct 17, where incumbent Rep. Marcus Hunter faces two opponents.  Political newcomer Heath Albritton and retired educator Billye Burns are candidates for the district seat.

There are two state senate races we feature in the series.  In District 33, former U.S. Rep. Vance McAllister challenges incumbent Sen. Mike Walsworth.  In District 35, businessman Stewart Cathey, Jr. runs against Rep. Jim Fannin.
