Donation presented to create endowed professorship at ULM

The University of Louisiana at Monroe received a donation to create an Endowed Professorship in Financial and Information Technology Services.

The $60,000 check was presented by Progressive Bank representatives to university officials Thursday morning in the ULM Library Media Room.

The gift will be eligible to receive a match from the Louisiana Board of Regents in the amount of $40,000.

Progressive President & CEO George Cummings says the designation will enhance career opportunities for students.  "It will enable them to focus in that field, and know that on the other end, they should be able to get a job.  That will lift the economy here and in other parts of the state," he said.

The Endowed Professorship helps ULM  recruit new faculty or retain faculty whose research, teaching, and public service have contributed to the mission of their department and institution.
