The City of West Monroe and West Monroe Police Department will host a Kids Bike Safety Expo on Monday, May 18.

This free event will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the parking lot of City Hall, located at 2305 N. 7th Street in West Monroe.

The Kids Bike Safety Expo will be held in celebration of National Bike Month, which is recognized throughout the month of May. During the event, members of the West Monroe Police Department Bicycle Patrol will do helmet checks, offer safe riding tips and lead children through several bicycle obstacle courses.

Children are encouraged to bring their bicycles and helmets to this event. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to register for several door prizes. In the event of rain, the Expo will be rescheduled to a later date.

“For the past several months, we have noticed a significant increase in in the number of bicyclists in our community, especially children,” said West Monroe Mayor Staci Mitchell. “The City of West Monroe would like to be sure our children understand bicycle safety and proper rules of the road. We want to ensure our residents can enjoy the outdoors safely.”
