NELA Child Advocacy Care's Black and White Ball: Raising Money and Awareness

The Center for Children and Families

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Northeast Louisiana is hosting a fundraiser called “The Black and White Ball” on September 14th from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event will be held at ULM’s Bayou Pointe located on campus near the football stadium. All proceeds support the Children’s Advocacy Center in order to provide services to youth and children affected by sexual assault.

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Northeast Louisiana (CAC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to their mission of  aiding the youth and children of our area that have been sexually abused and “raising community awareness.” According to Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator, Adam McDonald, the organization “allows children to tell their story” and speak with trained forensic interviewers. These interviewers then work hand-in-hand with law enforcement to ensure that these children have proper representation, and the abusers are convicted. CAC is currently at work in eight parishes and serve around “300 to 350” children per year.

Within the past year, CAC has hired three new forensic interviewers to serve our youth more effectively, and they need the community’s help in providing funding for these jobs. All proceeds from “The Black and White Ball” will support these newly created jobs and give the organization more opportunities to create more awareness through their workforce. The ball will be a casino-styled gaming night full of endless blackjack games, raffles throughout the night, food for the whole family, and even a nine-piece jazz-influenced New Orleans band called Crescent City Souls.

Tickets are $100 and can be bought before the event online at or at the Children’s Advocacy Center in Monroe at 622 Riverside Dr. or they can be bought at the door at the same price.
