You Don't Need a Green Thumb to Be a Master Gardener

Learn to create your beautiful flowerbed with keynote speaker Dan Gill.

NELA Master Gardeners will present "Living in Louisiana Landscapes", their 8th Annual Master Gardening Spring Seminar, Saturday, January 20th at the West Monroe Convention Center. Registration is available online or at the door for $20.

The seminar's keynote speaker is Dan Gill of the LSU Ag Center, who you can hear every morning at 6:49 a.m. in his segment "Get It Growing." He will be hosting the panel "Creating Colorful Flowerbeds in Louisiana Landscapes." Guests will have the opportunity to ask Dan questions at the seminar.

Bill Fontenot of the Lafayette area will host "Concepts & Consideration in Wildlife Garden Design," which teaches how to attract wildlife to your property with your garden.

Kenneth Kelley, a Master Gardener, is also very active with the Gulf District American Rose Society. He will bring this knowledge to guests in his panel "Roses for Louisiana Landscapes."  

Alan Futch, a Farmerville florist, will present "Flowers of the Civil War-era South." In this panel, he will discuss these flowers and arrangements.

Northeast Louisiana Master Gardener

NELA Master Gardeners is a volunteer service through the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service. Their goal is to train people interested in gardening and horticulture to present information to the public.

Classes to become a Master Gardener begin March 1st. Registration forms for this 12-week course are available on the Northeast Louisiana Master Gardener Facebook page. The class will cover such topics as lawn and weeds, fertilizers, soils, vegetables, fruits, and nuts.

Registration for "Living in Louisiana Landscapes" is $20 per person. The doors of the West Monroe Convention Center will open at 7:30 a.m., and the seminar will begin at 8:00 a.m. You don't want to miss this wonderful learning opportunity!
