The 33rd Annual Chili Cook Off and Browse on the Bayou will take place Saturday November 4, 2017 at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Browse on the Bayou is a specially designed campus visit day for potential students and their parents. The event is geared towards high school juniors, seniors and transfer students who are interested in seeing the campus in person.

President Dr. Nick Bruno will be present to address prospective students.  Faculty from each college will be present to answer any questions.   The student panel provides insight to current students' activities and opinions about ULM.

"Thats one of my favorite parts, is for the students to talk about their experiences," Jamie Hilburn says of the student panel.

Check in is at Brown Auditorium. Registration for the event is online and a complete schedule can be found here.

The annual chili cook-off will take place in The Grove, which is located beside Malone Stadium.  Beginning this year, the event has been renamed to honor the memory of alumnus Don Weems.  Weems was the first director of the group 31 Ambassadors who also host the cook-off.  The 31 Ambassadors are a group made up of high-spirited students that aim to increase awareness about events involving ULM.

The entry fee is $30 per team for students and $40 per team for all others.  Each team may have up to 6 members.    Participants must provide their own equipment and each pot of chili must be made from scratch, entirely on site. Dani Martin says this is something they are big sticklers on.  Registration begins at 9 a.m. and judging begins at noon.

To participate in judging, sampling cups are available for purchase for $1 each.  The people’s choice award will be given to the team with the highest judged chili. Other judges will include faculty, staff and alumni.  First place will receive a certificate along with bragging rights.

ULM will kick off against Appalachian State following the cook-off at 2 p.m.
