The Cooley House was designed in 1908 for entrepreneur Gilbert Brian ‘Captain’ Cooley of Monroe, Louisiana, by internationally acclaimed architect Walter Burley Griffin. The home was not built until 1925-26.";s:

The Cooley House Foundation will host a Walking Tour of the historic Monroe Garden District Saturday, October 7th, The tour will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Biedenharn Museum on the corner of Forsythe Avenue.

Lester Martin, the Vice President of the Cooley House, will be conducting the Walking Tour. The tour will give information on the historic usage of Forsythe Park and discuss architecture of downtown Monroe as well as housing styles. The tour will end back at the Biedenharn with refreshments and a group discussion.

The Cooley House Foundation has a few more events coming up in the next few months including a lecture at the Ouachita Grand Plaza November 2nd, and the opening of the Cooley Steamboat at the Cooley House January 20th.
