NELA Master Gardeners Fall Bulb and Plant Sale Saturday

Gardeners get a head start on finding bulbs and plants known to grow well in the area during the Northeast Louisiana Master Gardeners Fall Sale this weekend.

Master Gardener Christy Francis notes there are some new and unique offerings for growers.  "We'll have amaryllis that you can start indoors.  Many are familiar with the red spider lily, there is also a white spider lily that we'll have available Saturday," she said.

In addition to bulbs and plants, master gardeners will be on hand to answer questions and share on best practices.  With extremely dry weather, Kerry Heafner says many people are looking for advice on watering and protecting new additions to their landscape.  "If you can't irrigate, you can add a layer of mulch to slow water loss and help keep soil moisture with those plants," he said.

The sale is at the Market on 7th Square in West Monroe, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
