Operation KidSafe provides identification documents for children

In an emergency, every resource available can help lead to a positive outcome.

For Operation KidSafe founder Mark Bott, an emergency with a family he knew was reason enough to look into how he could help prevent future situations.  "I began with volunteer work.  After some time, I learned the landscape of child safety and found that the bad guys were networking just as much as the good guys," he said.

Operation KidSafe provides a free bio document including digital fingerprints of children.  Parents keep the lone, original form produced.  A KidSafe event in Bastrop is this Saturday.

Bott says the document is not copied or placed into a database.  Parents can privately store the item at their residence.

"So often in these cases, there is no recorded document like this that could help in an emergency" said Bott.

The free, one-day only event is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Toyota of Bastrop.  No personal information is needed to participate.
