Calhoun Questions Library Strategic Plan

P. Stewart

Ouachita Parish Police juror Mack Calhoun continued to express his frustration over the parish's library system in Monday's regular meeting.

Calhoun is concerned about what he perceives as a lack of oversight in creating a five-year strategic plan for the library system.  Ouachita Parish Public Library Director Robin Toms asked Associate State Librarian Diane Brown to consult with the system in developing a plan.

Calhoun feels there should be greater assistance with the plan and addressed that to Toms during the meeting.  Toms cited Brown's work with the East Baton Rouge Parish system, and assured jurors that a new branch would be addressed, as well as the needs of existing branches.

Calhoun has remained adamant in the past few meetings about constructing a new branch in western Ouachita parish.
