Market Opens For Local Produce

T. Smith

The Monroe Farmer's Market opened to rave reviews from customers Thursday.  "It is absolutely amazing, I'm loading up bags of fresh produce," says Kanika Tregg of Monroe.

She says nothing compares to being able to buy from local growers.  "There's some items like homemade jellies, or purple bell peppers you won't find in stores," she notes.

The market's operator, Charles Holley, points to the experience of shopping local as as reason for the market's success.  "Alot of buyers are repeat customers.  They know the quality and freshness of what available when they come to the market, he said.

The market is located on Washington Street in Monroe.
