Stunning memorabilia from Louisiana Tech University is now showcased in the Union Museum of History and Art until April 12. Tech’s “Traditions and Treasures” exhibit, sponsored by Origin Bank, focuses on the university’s fascinating history through carefully selected items from the university's archives. Cami Geisman, Tech’s Executive Vice President for External Affairs, is coordinating the exhibit. She is assisted by Angela Dunnington, Executive Director of Library Services, Tanya Arant, director of Special Collections and Archives, and Tom Soto, Director of University Communications and Marketing. Founded in 1894, the university currently has more than 11,000 students. Tech is a four-year selective admissions research university awarding bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. In addition to its main campus in Ruston, Louisiana Tech offers degree programs to civilians and military service members on Barksdale Air Force Base, and has a new Academic Success Center in Bossier City.

Free art-in-nature workshop for all skill levels. Bring your own pens/pencils and a drawing pad. Taught by LaTech art professor Daniel Moore. The workshop takes place on the 3rd Saturday in the Visitor Center.

Union Museum of History and Art will host an exciting exhibit, "Expedition: Ice Age," from the Palm Beach Museum of Natural History from April 26 to August 5. Bring the kids! They'll love seeing a life-size saber-tooth tiger skeleton replica, mastodon jaw and tusks, and dozens of other fossils. Everyone will enjoy learning about the great last Ice Age --- called the Pleistocene Epoch --- some 12,000 to 115,000 years ago when vast glaciers spread across North America and Eurasia and strange megafauna roamed the land.Museum hours: Tuesday-Friday, 1 to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.Museum tel #: 318-982-8020
