Holiday Programs on KEDM

The holidays aren't over yet! KEDM has more in store for as we count down to 2016!

Thursday December 31

  • 8 p.m. Toast of the Nation. An KEDM tradition every New Year's Eve! It's jazz that you can party to, all night long with four countdowns to midnight and four different renditions of "Auld Lang Syne" in all continental time zones. Spirited, improvised, grooving and swinging, each segment is a stop in a sequence of celebrations, contributing something new to the musical feast. Eight hours of music will start at 8 p.m. and continue throughout the night until 4 a.m. Hear the energy infused music of Anat Cohen, Wycliffe Gordon, The Wynton Marsalis Quintet, Clark Terry, Snarky Puppy, and Dianne Reeves. We'll also hear a special Allen Toussaint tribute at 2:30 a.m. Hosted by WBGO's Rhonda Hamilton.

Friday January 1

  • 10 a.m. New Year's Day from Vienna 2016. The Vienna Philharmonic presents its ever popular annual New Year's Day concert from the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna. You'll hear your favorite waltzes, polkas and more -- a festive way to start off the New Year. Presented by NPR Music and hosted by WBUR's Lisa Mullins.
