Renowned organist Dr. John Walker returns to northeast Louisiana in a concert performance Tuesday.

Walker, current president of the American Guild of Organists, will perform Baroque and contemporary works in a 7 p.m. concert at Northminster Church in Monroe.

Northminster organist D.H. Clark says Walker will be playing a tracker organ - a mechanical organ that only includes a few electrical components.  "It has 15 sets of pipes that you use in combinations to produce sound.  It may appear limiting, but really has the capability to be a versatile instrument."

Walker says this particular organ allows for unique control of sound.  "The player controls a set of levers that are interconnected.  They can be intimately used for controlling the beginning and ending of the sound created," said Walker.

The concert is free and open to the public.  Information at www.northmin.org
