Kenn Woodard, who grew up in Bastrop, has enjoyed a career as an actor and director.  He returns to Louisiana this week, competing for top honors in the Louisiana Film Prize Festival in Shreveport.

Woodard directed and co-produced the short film, The God Particle.  The intriguing story weaves together science, religion, and the relationship between two people.

"We wrote the script about two years before scientists discovered the actual particle," says Woodard.  "I thought it was interesting, this sort of scientific idea and breakthrough that we were on the verge of some push forward," he said.

The short film will debut this week during the festival, October 1-4.  Attendees will screen and vote on their favorite from among the 20 entries.  The festival winner receives a $50,000 top prize.
