Double-Bill At Strauss Youth Academy

Two shows take stage at Strauss Youth Academy for the Arts.  Little Women and You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown are set to open next week.

"We're switching out sets at the youth theatre to present these two wonderful shows," says Little Women director Cathy Airhart-Webb.

School performances of Little Women begin Tuesday, September 8.  You're A Good Man Charlie Brown starts Thursday, September 10.  Public shows are scheduled for September 11-13 and again September 18-20.

The classic play, Little Women, is based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott. The story follows the lives of four sisters in a coming-of-age story.  Katheryn Steffins is cast as the girls' mother, Marmee.  She says she enjoys the challenge of the motherly role.

"She's kind of peaceful, but at the same time she has this underlying temper.  She can be very loving and has room in her heart for everybody else," said Steffins.

You're A Good Man , Charlie Brown is the Broadway musical performance.  It features the timeless characters of the Charles Schultz comic strip.

The shows are also collaborating with the Ouachita Parish Public Library as part of National Library Card Month.
