The latest Monroe City Council got nothing done in record time. It only took 3 minutes and 31 seconds. No city business was accomplished after a motion was made by Councilwoman Juanita Woods to "Pass-Over" the council agenda. The motion passed and the meeting was quickly adjourned leaving numerous agenda items unresolved. There has been friction between some members of the council and Mayor Friday Ellis after the Governor appointed Timothy Williams as the new Monroe Fire Chief in September 2025. Governor Jeff Landry reappointed Williams to the job of Fire Chief last week.
