MONROE, La. — The University of Louisiana Monroe will implement temporary road closures this week to accommodate two major campus events, Wine Over Water and the Dragon Boat Races.

The first closure will take place from Wednesday, April 15, through Friday, April 17, for the annual Wine Over Water event. Beginning at 8:00 a.m. on April 15, Northeast Drive will be closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic from the University Suites parking lot to the intersection of Northeast Drive and Bon Aire Drive. The roadway will reopen at 12:00 a.m. on April 17.

During this time, the University Suites parking lot adjacent to Bayou Park will remain accessible. However, access to the Schulze Dining Hall parking lot will be limited to entry from Bon Aire Drive. Students, faculty, and visitors needing to cross the bayou are encouraged to use the Warhawk Way bridge or the pedestrian bridge located between Coenen Hall and Bayou Village Apartments.

Additional closures will occur April 17–18 for the Dragon Boat Races. The Warhawk Way bridge will be closed beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 17, and will reopen at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18. Warhawk Way will be inaccessible between Desiard Street and Bon Aire Drive during this period.

All other campus entry points will remain open, though drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time.
