Ochsner LSU Health Monroe Medical Center earns second consecutive ‘A’ hospital safety grade from the Leapfrog Group

Shreveport, La. – Ochsner LSU Health Monroe Medical Center has earned its second consecutive ‘A’ hospital safety grade from the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit that evaluates hospitals on patient safety. The fall 2025 recognition highlights the hospital’s commitment to preventing medical errors, infections, accidents, and injuries.

“This accomplishment highlights the dedication, skill, and teamwork of everyone at Monroe Medical Center,” said Mark Randolph, chief executive officer of Ochsner LSU Health Monroe. “Earning an ‘A’ grade reflects not only our commitment to providing quality care but also our passion for the communities we serve.”

Leah Binder, president and chief executive officer of the Leapfrog Group, emphasized the significance of the recognition. “Earning an ‘A’ grade means Ochsner LSU Health Monroe Medical Center made a true commitment to put patient safety first,” she said. “We congratulate the leadership, clinicians, staff, and volunteers who contributed to this achievement.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital rating program that focuses exclusively on preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries, which cause more than 500 deaths daily in the United States. Grades are peer-reviewed, fully transparent, publicly accessible, and updated twice each year.

Ochsner LSU Health Monroe Medical Center, a 233-bed facility, features the area’s only 24-hour emergency department staffed entirely by board-certified emergency medicine physicians. In 2023, it became northeast Louisiana’s first Level III trauma center, designated by the Louisiana Emergency Response Network. The hospital has also earned numerous accolades, including the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus quality achievement award, the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval, Primary Stroke Center certification, and the Birth Ready+ designation from the Louisiana Department of Health.
