This Saturday, February 11, Mardi Gras continues with the Krewe of Janus parade rolling out at 6 p.m. Events before the main parade include the Children's Parade at Pecanland Mall starting at 10 a.m. with free registration at 9 a.m. The Krewe of Paws Pet Parade stars furry friends in West Monroe's Antique Alley at 2 p.m.

The main parade's theme is "40 years of Janus" to celebrate the Krewe's creation in 1984. Janus XL King and Queen are a husband and wife, Lee Sawyer and Suzette Sawyer. Suzette says "There is something for everybody, with over 20 floats, the Battle of the Bands, and Ace the Warhawk." Lee recommends to stay in the back of the crowd for best results and to keep away from the floats for safety.

The 3.8 mile parade route begins in 1118 Natchitoches St. in West Monroe, and ends in Oliver Rd. in Monroe. The road closures for the parade will occur no later than than 5:45 pm, including: Louisville Avenue, beginning from Riverside Drive to Oliver Road; Walnut Street to Washington Street; Washington Street to North 3rd Street; and North 3rd Street to Louisville Avenue.
