A Louisiana high school teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student has been arrested.
The Advocate reports 43-year-old Tracie Zimmerman of Napoleonville was booked into jail on one count of prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and a student. Officials said in a Wednesday statement that a student had expressed concerns to administrators Tuesday about a possible relationship, which launched a law enforcement investigation.
Detectives determined that probable cause existed to arrest the Assumption High School teacher. Superintendent Jeremy Couvillion says the school system is devastated by the accusations of this serious breach of trust by an employee.
Couvillion says their focus is supporting students, continuing their investigation and supporting law enforcement in the matter. It's unclear if Zimmerman has a lawyer who could comment.
