DALLAS, TEXAS (February 10, 2026) — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has selected Southern University at Shreveport and Limitless Vistas, Inc. of New Orleans to receive a combined $1 million in Brownfields Job Training Grants. The funding will support recruitment, training, and job placement for workers involved in cleaning up and revitalizing contaminated properties.
Limitless Vistas will receive $500,000 to train 160 individuals and place 60 in environmental jobs. Southern University at Shreveport will also receive $500,000 to train 54 individuals and place 51 in jobs. Participants will earn multiple state and federal certifications in areas such as hazardous waste operations, lead and asbestos abatement, mold remediation, and environmental health and safety.
Both programs focus on serving veterans, formerly incarcerated individuals, unemployed or underemployed residents, and people living in impacted communities. The grants aim to strengthen Louisiana’s workforce while advancing local cleanup and redevelopment efforts.
Since 1995, EPA’s Brownfields Program has awarded nearly $2.9 billion to assess and clean up contaminated properties, leveraging more than $42 billion in redevelopment and supporting over 220,500 jobs nationwide.
