Arrest in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Louisiana

State troopers in Louisiana have arrested a man in a hit-and-run death.

21-year-old Lorenzo Gamaz of Walker was arrested Sunday and charged with negligent homicide after a motorcyclist was killed.

State police said that 36-year-old Cory Metrejean of Denham Springs died in the crash early Sunday near Interstate 12 in Livingston Parish. Police say Metrejean was hit from behind and the motorcycle crossed the centerline and landed in a ditch.

Metrejean was taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Gamaz is charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run resulting in death, reckless operation, no driver's license, no insurance and failure to report a crash.

It was not known if Metrejean has an attorney to comment on the charges.
