The City of Monroe has been designated for federal Public Assistance under Louisiana’s Major Disaster Declaration for the January winter storm Fern.

The funding reimburses the City for eligible debris removal and emergency response costs. Individual assistance for residents is not included at this time.
Public Works and contracted crews are currently removing an average of 1,500 tons of debris daily as cleanup continues citywide.

“Our priority has always been the safety and well-being of our community,” said Mayor Friday Ellis. “We immediately launched an emergency Request for Proposals (RFP) process to bring in extra crews and speed up debris removal. This federal support helps us recover responsibly and ensures Monroe remains strong and resilient as we move forward.”

City officials will remain in coordination with state and federal partners and will provide updates if additional assistance becomes available.
