Ouachita Green highlights 2025 volunteer achievements in annual report

Ouachita Parish, LA — Ouachita Green has released its 2025 Annual Report, showcasing the remarkable impact of volunteer service and community support throughout Ouachita Parish.

In 2025, 2,152 volunteers contributed more than 600,000 hours to litter abatement, environmental education, recycling, and beautification projects. These efforts reached over 6,000 residents, educating them on the impacts of litter and the role individuals play in creating a cleaner, healthier community. Public awareness was further amplified through nearly 2,000 traditional and social media posts and interviews.

Volunteer-led cleanups removed 133,837 pounds of litter from the parish, improving environmental safety, public health, and local pride. While these results are encouraging, Ouachita Green emphasizes that preventing litter remains a priority to allow more resources to be directed toward other community improvements.

Recycling initiatives collected 126,446 pounds of recyclable materials through 13 events and school programs, helping conserve natural resources, reduce landfill waste, and educate students about sustainability.

Beautification efforts left a lasting impact, with nearly 800 trees and plants added across Ouachita Parish. In celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary, Ouachita Green encourages residents to plant red, white, and purple flora to honor the Semiquincentennial.

Ouachita Green invites the public to participate in upcoming events. For more information, visit www.ouachitagreen.org/events or call (318) 355-5622 to host an event.
