Monroe, Louisiana – July 21, 2025 – In a proactive effort to combat the rising mosquito population, the Ouachita Parish Mosquito Abatement District has announced plans for aerial spraying scheduled for July 22 and July 23, 2025. The spraying will commence each evening at 8:30 p.m. and is expected to conclude by midnight.

The targeted areas for this aerial application include urban neighborhoods in Monroe and West Monroe, as well as portions of Sterlington, Richwood, Bawcomville/Brownsville, and the Howard Brown area along Hwy 3033. Residents in these areas are advised to take precautions during the spraying hours to ensure their safety.

Kellie Nestrud, Director of the Ouachita Parish Mosquito Abatement District, emphasized the importance of this initiative. "We are committed to protecting our community from mosquito-borne diseases, and this aerial spraying is a critical part of our strategy," Nestrud stated. "We encourage residents to stay indoors during the spraying to minimize exposure."

The Ouachita Parish Mosquito Abatement District urges residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to safeguard their health and well-being.
