Lagniappe: Strauss Summer Camps

The Strauss Youth Academy for the Arts (SYAA) offers an a big lineup of summer camps designed to inspire creativity and foster artistic skills in young performers. Jessica Rainwater-Grigson and Megan Wilkins join KEDM's Cory Crowe on Lagniappe to discuss the camps and workshops.

Shakespearean Adventure Camp
Ages: 12-18
Dates: June 10-14
Time: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Cost: $300

Dive into the world of Shakespeare with this immersive camp! Participants will engage in acting workshops, focusing on performance techniques and character development through the Bard's iconic plays. The week will culminate in a showcase performance.

Creative Arts Camp
Ages: 5-7
Dates: June 17-21
Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Cost: $150

This camp encourages young children to explore their creativity through various art forms, including drama, dance, and visual arts. Led by experienced instructors, kids will learn to express themselves while having fun.

Young Performers Camp
Ages: 8-12
Dates: July 8-12

Designed for aspiring young actors, this camp focuses on theatrical skills such as projection, memorization, and teamwork. Participants will work together to create a short production, enhancing their confidence and stage presence.

Dance Intensive Workshop
Ages: 12-18

Join professional dancers for a week of high-energy dance training! This workshop will cover various styles and techniques, culminating in a dance showcase. Perfect for those looking to hone their skills and learn new choreography.

Musical Theatre Bootcamp
Ages: 10-18
Dates: July 22-26
Time: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Cost: $350

This bootcamp is for those passionate about musical theatre. Participants will learn singing, dancing, and acting techniques, working towards a final performance that showcases their talents.
