MONROE, Louisiana (December 8, 2023) — The Salvation Army of Monroe, serving Northeast Louisiana, has announced its participation in a bold challenge initiated by Commissioner Kenneth Hodder, the organization's leader, to raise $2 million in four hours on Saturday, December 9, 2023.

The Salvation Army is thrilled that the Duck Commander’s Robertson family will be participating in the challenge by ringing bells on Saturday, December 9th, at 11:00 am at the West Monroe Hobby Lobby. This event aims to raise crucial funds supporting essential programs and services for the community's most vulnerable individuals throughout the year.

Captain Jerry Casey, Commanding Officer of The Salvation Army, expressed gratitude for the Robertson family's involvement and support. Casey emphasized a surge in assistance requests alongside declining donations to their red kettles, calling upon the community to unite and aid in their mission of 'Doing The Most Good' in local communities. “Our services are more important than ever as inflation and high interest rates are pushing more working families into housing insecurity and financial hardship,” said Captain Casey.

“What makes this challenge so impactful is people coming together to give what they can to help others in need, “said Captain Casey. “By reaching our goal of $2 million nationally, we demonstrate our love for our neighbors beyond differences and circumstances.”

One hundred percent of the funds raised through the Red Kettles stay local to support services during the holidays and into the new year.
