Baton Rouge, La. — Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) and Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser have awarded 230 trash receptacles to 47 organizations in 31 parishes to help reduce litter and support recycling in public spaces.
“Every cleaner park, trail, and main street in Louisiana starts with simple choices—like putting trash and recyclables where they belong,” said Lt. Gov. Nungesser. “Since 2022, we’ve awarded more than 2,000 receptacles across the state, and we’re seeing real progress.”
KLB Executive Director Susan Russell added, “Litter scans show a 78% reduction in trash where receptacles are installed and maintained. Providing trash bins makes it easy for people to do the right thing.”
The program is open to parishes, municipalities, recreation districts, and state agencies. Recipients also track litter reduction through post-installation assessments.
Participating communities include the City of Baton Rouge, University of New Orleans, City of Lake Charles, City of Slidell, and many others across the state.
