Monroe Gets New Code Enforcement Chief

Monroe Mayor Friday Ellis has appointed Tommy James as Chief Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Monroe.

Mr. James has decades of experience in public service, including 30 years with the Monroe Fire Department with the last three years serving as Chief Arson Investigator, and 16 years as a reserve police officer with the Monroe Police Department.

Mr. James holds a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Grambling State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management from Northwestern State University. Mr. James also holds an Associate’s degree in Fire Science and Emergency Service from Louisiana State University at Eunice.

Originally from Monroe, Cory has worked in a variety of media. He has worked in television news and spent seven years as a TV sports play-by-play announcer. He was also creative director for a television advertising department and worked extensively as a photojournalist. Cory has lived in both Dallas and New Orleans.
