Re-Creating The Berlin Airlift's Candy Drop In North Carolina

Gail Halvorsen, 97, flew C-47 cargo planes filled with food during the Berlin Airlift in 1948-49. He is famous for adding candy to the relief supplies for Berlin's children. For years, he has participated in a re-enactment of the airlift — and had hoped to do so again this year, for the final time.
